It’s always fun to get a little off the beaten path when you travel, but it’s not always so easy to figure out how to do it. Most travel guides will send you to the touristic spots and highlight a few local cuisines. Yet, if you want to discover the soul of a city, taking pictures around the Eiffel Tower  is not going to help you. In fact, I’ve met a lot of people who have been to places, but haven’t really been there.

That’s why you are not going to find your typical travel advice on this website.  I want to make sure that you get to get a bit more insight into the local culture, and perhaps the feeling of what it’s like to actually live in a city.

The tips below are either things I’ve learned myself while living and traveling abroad or they are articles from the locals themselves.
